Our next Business Meeting is right around the corner. The featured speaker this time around is DuPage County Board Chairman Bob Schillerstrom, Republican candidate for Governor.

On Monday, LCYR Secretary Lauren Fleming will be on the Libby Collins show at 8am. Tune in to WKRS AM1220 to hear her talk about the Young Republican resurgence throughout the suburbs.

LCYR – Business Meeting on Aug 25 with Dan Proft

Note the date change! The August Business Meeting is now on Tuesday, August 25th. Republican candidate for Governor Dan Proft will be our featured speaker.

Our first ever NW Suburban YR BBQ was a huge success! Despite the thunderstorms, intense heat, and numerous conflicting events, the event drew over 200 attendees and most of the statewide candidates. Thanks to all our sponsors and volunteers who made the event such a success. Next year’s event will be at least twice as big!

Special thanks to Joe Cook, Lauren Fleming, Michael Carbone and Sandy Hartogh who worked countless hours over the past few months planning and preparing for the event. They deserve the credit for the event’s success…thank you guys!

Be sure to join us on Wednesday at Bistro Amalfi as we team up with WTRO to reach out to young voters in Waukegan Township. YRs get in free! Details here.

LCYR – BBQ Only 3 Days Away

Our big BBQ is only 3 days away!

The first ever Northwest Suburban Young Republican Barbecue is this Saturday, August 8th from 3-6pm at Citizen’s Park in Barrington. See here for full details.

Many of the statewide candidates will be among the hundreds of people in attendance. There will be live music, great food and plenty of games…the forecast calls for hot weather, so we added several water games to keep people cool. There will also be a very special activity for everyone to enjoy!

In addition to coming out and bringing your friends and family, you can help out with the event. LCYR – Special Mid-Summer Event Tomorrow

LCYR – Mark Kirk Announcement Monday

Monday morning, at 10:30a, 10th District Congressman Mark Kirk will announce his plans to run statewide in 2010. The major announcement will be held at 522 Melrose Ave, Kenilworth, IL.The Kirk campaign recommends arriving by 10am to find parking on Park Dr, just south of Melrose, or Green Bay Rd.

LCYR – Special Event Announcement

We have details for our special end-of-summer event!

The YRs in Lake, McHenry, DuPage and Kane Counties are joining together to host a BBQ at Citizens Park in Barrington on Saturday, August 8th from 3-6pm. The event will feature live music (bands to be announced shortly), games for people of all ages, BBQ, soft drinks and a whole bunch of young Republicans.

Everyone is invited–the event is free for YR members, $5 for anyone else. We are also inviting our Republican elected officials and candidates from throughout the suburbs to join us for what is sure to be a fun and fantastic event!

Mark your calendar and start spreading the word. We will be posting the event on Facebook shortly and emailing around an invitation that can easily be forwarded to friends & family.

Also, it is very important that you join your fellow YRs as we walk with the GOP in the following parades. The Democrats were a bit ashamed of their showing in the Libertyville parade and are looking to make up for it. If you send me a picture of you walking in a parade with the GOP this weekend, I will personally grill you some premium beef at the YR BBQ.

LCYR – Big Events Tonight

Tonight is the night! The Chicago YRs have their huge membership event downtown at Cubby Bear starting at 7pm, and it is certain to be a great event with well over a thousand Republicans proving that while it isn’t easy being right in Chicago, you aren’t alone!

Be sure to attend the event, and join dozens of young IL GOP leaders, big names and gubernatorial candidates. Click here to see all the event details on Facebook.

If you plan on staying in Lake County tonight, join me at Rep Ed Sullivan’s fundraiser at Cafe Pyrenees in Libertyville. Tickets are $50, but LCYRs can get in for a special price of $20 (and if you bring a guest who joins the LCYRs, they get in for free)! Bring your vegetables to throw as I will be speaking in Ed’s place since he got called down to session in Springfield. Afterward some of us plan on shooting down to Chicago for the CYR event, so feel free to carpool.

Finally, a few tidbits: join us on July 4th as we walk in parades with our GOP candidates, and mark Saturday, August 8th on your calendar for the first ever NW Suburban Young Republican BBQ in Barrington. Look for a special email on Wednesday with details on the BBQ and Independence Day parades.
